Cleaning out the cobwebs.

I don't know why they call it "Spring Cleaning" because for some reason, I never get around to it until the Fall. So last weekend, most of the house got upturned, rearranged and thrown out — utterly dismantled by both myself and my thoughtful, determined and understanding Witt (thanks again, by the way). It sounds awful and consuming — and it is when you're in the middle of it — but gosh has it been so very nice to come home to. I even seem to get out the door earlier in the mornings because I just know where everything is and I don't have to walk around anything to actually get out the door.

I literally piled up boxes of stuff I've just been collecting, or shall I say, ignoring, the past 2 years. Some things that needed to be thrown out had to go because they have icky memories tied to them... but most of the junk is well, junk. After awhile, I got lazy and just started piling it by the outside garbage can. It's still sitting there, and I'm still proceeding to walk by it on my way to the car every morning. I seem to not want to completely throw it away yet... just in case. But I really do hope this stuff doesn't find it's way back into my house somehow. I'm going to take it to the Salvation Army this weekend... hoping that someone will actually want the extra wine glasses I certainly didn't need, or get some use of the dish washing rack that never fit properly on the counter or perhaps even use the herb jars that were "for display only". Stuff. And lots of it.

So now it is time to patch up the walls and pick a new paint color for the bathroom. I get really excited about this stuff. I've chosen a Martha Stewart gray blue and a bright blue to decide from (for now). Two completely different intensities and values, but gosh, I love them both. I had painted the bathroom the same color as the bedroom — mainly because I was told it would make my small bathroom tie in with the bedroom and look like a Master Suite — but all it really did was make everything green. Oops.

I don't know when I'm getting around to this though. Praying for a rainy day!
