The best thing about being a photographer is getting to shoot couples that are totally in love with each other, and catching their sparks in those in-between moments when they are together. Patrick and Alicia are just brimming over with kindness and sweetness, don't you think?

beach birthday.

This family has been a huge part of my life since before I can remember; looking at these photos it's amazing to see how far we've come in the past 25 years. I first photographed Mandi and her then fiancé at their Colorado wedding awhile back... she joked with me when I arrived that I was their first repeat client! I can't wait to get the opportunity again. Their love and respect for each other as individuals and as a family is so evident — and being able to capture it for them is not only an honor but just an amazing thing to experience. Happy Birthday, Mrs. E!

moroccan magic.

It was a true dream and honor to photograph this amazing bridal shower, creatively designed and inspired by my dear friend, Dawn, with floral arrangements by my other dear friend, Courtney!

I can't even begin to describe all of the details that went into making this party a truly festive event. Ok, I'll try: there were were hand-painted cups, perfectly organized trays of homemade food, fabric napkins holding jeweled cutlery, strung fabrics, elaborate tropical arrangements, stenciled fans, hand-crafted and personally written notecards... just to name a few! But what I can describe in full (er, in photos that is) is just how heart-warmingly it all was accepted. Everyone who came through that gate experienced such a magical place — so wonderful that it was hard not to smile really, really big.

It's true that one's visual surroundings affects the overall feeling of a party (yes, those details do count!) — and the feeling here was an exotic warmth that was intoxicating. No one wanted the party to end... which is how it should be!

(I cannot wait to begin designing my wedding with Dawn and Courtney! I'm going to be so spoiled.)

dawn's moroccan masterpiece.

Just a little taste of what's to come: Jenn & Jason's engagement shower — designed masterfully by my dear friend Dawn, with Courtney's assistance on flowers and decorations. Uh-uh-uhhhhnnnnbelievable transformation was done to the indoor/outdoor space to incorporate the Indian/Moroccan theme... from delicately hand-painted gold cups, to custom graphic cut-out fans and strewn jewel-toned saris.

I cannot wait to share this with you... it was such a dreamland to capture in pictures! Stay tuned.

alabama limo.

Snuck out to Smith's Olde Bar this past Tuesday to see my dear coworker's boyfriend's band, Alabama Limo, play a gig. And of course, take a few shots for them. They sounded rather fantastic. It was nice to get my jam on.
