Found Friday — SJP & Me.

Remember that unimportant meme post about a month back?

I met (and got a hug from!) Sarah Jessica Parker — yes, SJP — when I was a senior in highschool. She gave out the awards for the Congress Juried Art Show; I won the Florida Congress show by submitting/exhibiting an oil painting of my Great Grandmother, Amelia. All the state winners were invited to D.C. to see their works hanging in the halls of Congress (they remained there for a year). At the time, I was more excited about meeting Ms. Footloose, but also bummed that I hadn't won the year prior since it was Tom Cruise who was handing out the awards then. Funny how that all turned out. I had my picture taken with her, and yes, she is very very petite. (And taller than me.) I wonder where that picture ended up?

Well looky here (courtesy of Mom's scanner)!

Let's look a little closer, shall we?
1. Yup, I had curly hair. Not as coifed as hers, of course. SJP is always naturally perfect. Perfect curl, perfect part, perfect length. Mine is more of a crimp-and-go style. Set with Aqua-net.
2. I seem to be wearing curtains for pants.
3. SJP raided a Laura Ashley Outlet Store. Even so, she looks perfect.
4. I am wearing a choker.
5. I am wearing that choker with a vest.

They took a color photo too...

Yup, she still looks perfect. She even coordinated to match the flags behind her. Of course she did. Mom also scanned the letter that Congressman Mica sent to me (it was enclosed with the 2 photos).

Yes Congressman Mica, we sure do enjoy the photos. We sure do.

The most "unimportant" meme.

Dgirl sent me this meme: 6 unimportant things about yourself. Here goes:

- Link back to the person that tagged you.
- Post the rules on your blog.
- Share 6 unimportant things about yourself.
- Tag people at the end of your entry.

1. I have 2 different colored eyes — one hazel, one dark brown. And, when I cross my eyes, only the right one moves in... the hazel one. My friend, Jaime won't let me cross my eye in front of her — it creeps her out too much. Personally, I think it is a great party trick.

2. My middle name, Cates, makes quite a good nickname... Ali Cat. Fortunately, no one calls me that, and if you do, I will not answer to it.

3. The only reason I keep my hair short is because it is entirely annoying for me to have anything touching my neck. It makes me rashy. Sometimes I secretly miss having long, flowing locks, so I tell myself short hair is more "me".

4. My favorite fruits are strawberries and pineapples; however, I am severely allergic to them. Sometimes I eat them anyways and suffer the consequences.

5. I met (and got a hug from!) Sarah Jessica Parker yes, SJP — when I was a senior in highschool. She gave out the awards for the Congress Juried Art Show; I won the Florida Congress show by submitting/exhibiting an oil painting of my Great Grandmother, Amelia. 6. I was on the Bridge team (yes, the card playing game) in high school just so I could get extra credit in my French class. In doing so, I got a A instead of a B. I'm frightful with foreign languages.

I'm tagging my friend, Moo, who is blogless but loves to meme, and who used to do my French homework for me. Seemed fitting. (Moo, just post a comment to this post and look at you go! It's like having the satisfaction of blogging without the commitment!!!! Who loves ya?)

My first Meme.

Tag, I'm it! My post/meme for this evening is brought to you by Miss Dgirl.

So, here's how it works —The Rules:
Rules are posted at the beginning. At the end of the post, the player tags 6 people and posts their names. Then the player goes to each of the “named” people’s blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. If you’ve been tagged, you do the same, letting the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer. Your answer, of course, is the answer to the following questions. Here we go!

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?
Well, I was starting my first job, fresh out of college. It would have been my second week. I had just settled into my new loft-style, downtownish apartment (I had previously been sleeping on my brother's floor — he so sweetly let me crash at his place while I got my act together). I felt like I was making a crazy amount of money for doing what I loved, yet could hardly afford to live at said apartment. I was obsessed with design. I remember feeling so grown up yet so completely frightened of this endeavor. I remember wanting to do everything myself. I was shy and naive, but proud and unstoppable. I was a sponge, absorbing the big city and all of it's offerings. I was so ready to be an adult and to (hopefully) be taken seriously.

2. What are 5 things on my to-do list today?
Well, let's do my to-do list for tomorrow since it is 10pm...
- Write my Found Friday entry
- Interview 2 designers
- Schedule Ellie's teeth cleaning
- Water the thirsty plants
- Call my cousin, Meg, to wish her "Happy Preggers!"

3. Snacks I enjoy:
I'm enjoying the crap out of some Jolly Ranchers right now! But that is bad, bad, bad for me. Usually you'll find me snacking on almonds and cheese sticks.

4. Places I’ve lived:
- Marlton, New Jersey
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Longwood, Florida
- Florence, Italy
- Atlanta, Georgia

5. Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
- Hire a good lawyer.
- Set up my immediate family so they'd never have to work again.
- Give a poop-load of money to my friends so that we could all enjoy this new lifestyle together.
- Donate, donate, donate.
- Go back to school for photography and interior design.
- Set up & run rescue facilities and shelters for dogs.
- Live and travel everywhere.

Ok, so I'm cheating and only tagging 1 person, to make it a true tag-you're-it game! That's you, L.C.T.!
