Rain-made Windowboxes.

It rained like crazy this past weekend — thunderstorms, torrential downpours, close-call lightening strikes — which left me with no power... but gave me abundant flower boxes! (That first picture is of the home's old mailbox that I remade into a flower box, simply by turning it over.) So I guess that's an ok trade off, right?

In other news, Miss Ellie decided late Friday night that it would be fun to stick her nose into a wasp's nest. Yes, you know what happens next — a frantic visit to the ER. Her face swelled up to the point that she looked like a Shar-Pe... full of hives all over, completely swelled beyond recognition, not to mention, she was having trouble breathing and was is pain. It was incredibly scary. Thank goodness for 24 hr vet care — found Pets Are People Too — and they did such an amazing job not only calming me down, but immediately getting her the help she needed. She's gonna be just fine. Me? I'm now the crazy neighborhood lady frantically searching the yard for the hive. Sigh.
